If none of these work for you, no need to worry! Read on to learn some tricks you can use to open your car without keys

Tips To Open Your Car Door Without A Key

Different cars have different locking mechanisms. While older cars have manual locking mechanisms, all new cars use power locks with remote controls to open them. To help you use these tricks if you are locked out of your truck, you should know where your car’s unlock mechanism is both inside and outside.

1. Use Your Shoestring

The method I would prefer if I locked my keys in my car, will be this. However, it only works on cars with mechanisms that unlock by pulling up.

Take your shoelace and put a loop in the middle of it in a way that it will tighten when placed around the locking mechanism. Slowly insert the string into the interior of the car through space where the door meets the car’s exterior. Now hook the string around the lock and tighten the loop then pull the string up. It might take more than one time to successfully unlock your car but do not give up.

2. Use A Tennis Ball

The effectiveness of this technique is quite thin but it’s worth trying if you have a tennis ball with you. Put a hole in the ball then face the hole to the keyhole and push it. The air force from the ball enters the keyhole, forcing the car to unlock.

3. Use A Coat Hanger

Like the shoelace method only works for pulling up the locking mechanism, this step only works for horizontal locks. Also, having a coat hanger when you are outside is highly unlikely but I use this technique if I lock my keys in my car accident when I’m home.

What you have to do for this method is, untwist a wire coat hanger and make a hook. Then work the hook into the door. Get the hook perfectly around the lock and then pull. This may take a few tries, but finally, you will be able to successfully open the door without a key.

4. Use A Rod And A Screwdriver

This method also can only be used if you have a rod and a screwdriver with you and it is unlikely that you have such equipment if you are outside. If you have them, this method works like that of a shoelace. However, you have to be careful while using this method as it can cause damage to your car.

Create a bit of space with the screwdriver and push the lock with the road. After a few tries, your lock will open and you can retrieve your keys.

5. Use An Inflatable Wedge

This method is similar to that of the screwdriver method but this uses air to try and open the door. Insert the wedge after creating a space and inflate it and try opening the door. You will be able to open your door in no time. However, this equipment is quite expensive but having this is very useful.

6. Use A Strip Of Plastic

A strip of plastic is not something hard for you to find even when you are outside. If you can find one, you can easily pick your lock and eitnenterback into your car in no time.

Bend the strip of plastic and insert it through the door jamb and pick the lock.

The first thing you have to do if you are locked out of your car is not to panic. Panicking can’t help you solve any problem. You can use any of these methods to pick your lock according to your convenience. If you can’t, the best thing to do is to call your mechanic or get help from a car lock picker. Otherwise calling 911 for assistance can help you solve this issue. This method is the most advised if you have a pet or your child trapped inside your locked car.
